Background for DMG file (OS X disk image)
#1
If we are going to distribute the OS X build, it would be nice for the disk image file to have a background that will instruct users on what to do with the game file (i.e. put in in their Applications folder). It is by no means essential, as the process is pretty straightforward, but creative backgrounds for the DMG files seem to be a really nice touch. Examples can be found here: http://spyrestudios.com/40-inspiring-and...g-designs/
This one is my favorite, though: https://twitter.com/sumardi/status/431018534701776896

Either way, I managed to come up with something.  http://imgur.com/3AFFtUE

Of course it's just an idea, I am a terrible designer, the readability of the text sucks and so on, and so forth, but I hope you get the drill.

Well, it needs 20% to be cooler and unified with our official GOLD design Wink :

- full render of the Colobot: Gold Edition logo (just download our colobot-misc repo and open GOLD-Logo-3D.blend, then hit F12 and, well, there it is! Big Grin )
- all text with Ubuntu Normal Bold or Ubuntu Mono Bold font, best text color would be probably d0c228 in HTML
- gauss-blured background with original screenshot from Tropica (original photo & gauss-blured with 15px in Y and Z)
- little shadow behind all elements of this picture, especially behind the text and logo

I can help you do this in a minute or two Wink. I could do this before I start writing this post, but I noticed I have no sources of OS X icons :/ ...

I think the background file itself is without icons. The sources should be in "desktop" directory of the main repo.

Ok, so I must know only what resolution is preferred for this thing.

You mean in colobot repo? Now I see here some old files from old @OdyX NSIS installer. Is that installer still used somewhere? I tested recent GOLD-0.1.6 installer and there was no such images like colobot_nsis.bmp and colobot_nsis_left.bmp. So I guess we can clean up here and add new, official installer images with their sources for all OS platforms.

I like the Earth -> space @Schocker 's background much more for this concept. Just my $0.02.

I think that installer is still buildable, just not used by anyone since we're using my NSIS script for official builds
